It takes a lot out of me. There’s stuff like clothes you’ve got to put on, feet you need to try not smack into bed frames and chairs, a body that needs water to drink, food to eat, but not too much food, especially the foods you like, and air you’ve got to breathe. So many fricking things you have to remember. Like how things are solid. Like walls. Walls you shouldn’t walk into. And pavement. Pavement you shouldn’t trip on and fall into head first. Stuff like that all the time. It’s exhausting. I really don’t know how you humans do it.

Though breath sprays work best, Doreen found many uses for the Tic Tacs she always carried in her pocket. Not all the beasts encountered on her journeys kept up with dental hygiene the way that she did…

1. Take a deep breath.
2. Say “F**k it.” Note: you may have to repeat this step several times. Do not be discouraged. Eventually the “F**k it” sentiment will kick in and you’ll be ready for step 3.
3. Do the thing that you really, really want to do. Despite the fear.
